My collection was inspired by birds and the essence of flight. I also wanted to make it a tribute to my favorite designer, Alexander McQueen, as this was the year that he passed away. I created my own digital print and used parachutes as an inspiration to my construction. I won "Most Innovative Collection" for my use of technology and physics to create the collection.
We also had to create an evening collection and make one of the looks for the show. My dresses were also inspired by birds, but it was a more glamorous execution than my collection. The dress was silk jersey and the silk caftan was hand embroidered.
The show also received a lot of local press which gave me the opportunity to market myself through magazine and newspaper interviews as well as TV appearances.
